For almost 50 years DéDé Dance

In 1976, 18-year-old Marionne van Dam wanted to dance, but she thought classical ballet was too classical, jazz ballet did not appeal to her because of the music, and modern ballet was not it either! Dynamic dancing to pop music simply did not exist yet...

Dinky Dancers

This all started in Asten and the group was soon named Dinky Dancers. They had a great time with performances soon following. The enthusiasm spread quickly, both among people and across multiple locations. The girls enjoyed themselves, won competitions, appeared on TV and continued to grow.

There was only one thing to do: create it yourself and call it Pop Ballet. There appeared to be a lot of interest; initially there were 15 girls, but within a month this number grew to 150!

DeDe Dance history

Time for change

In 1999, it was time for a change. The figure in the logo was given a modern bob and the name became trendy: DéDé Danceballet. The fun, shows and lessons continued unabated.

In 2002, all 5,000 students danced together for the first time in a major event called D-Mission. In addition, there are theater performances every three years in which all students shine in beautiful costumes.

In 2013, Marionne's daughter, Deyonne van Dam, took over running the ballet school and gave it a fresh spin. To keep up with the times, DéDé got a new logo and the name became DéDé Dance!
